KIT oversees the Helmholtz Institute of Ulm (HIU), a centre of excellence on fundamental and applied materials research for the next generation electrochemical energy storage technologies. HIU mainly focuses on 5 main components of the electrochemical energy storage, namely in electrochemistry, materials science, theory and modelling of (electro) chemical processes, system considerations and analytical tools.
